Presence Collective, a program of Peace in Schools, is a registered 501(c)(3) organization based in Portland, Oregon. We are currently seeking an Executive Assistant & Presence Collective Coordinator to support our community and our program's Founder and Guiding Teacher, Caverly Morgan.

Presence Collective aims to ignite personal transformation and collective awakening. Founded in 2008, we offer mindfulness, contemplative education and a practice of liberation for young people and adults. Our mission of transforming lives and ending suffering impacts underrepresented people and communities of color through a deep commitment to the intersection of personal transformation and collective transformation. In the words of Rev. angel Kyodo williams: “Without inner change, there can be no outer change; without collective change, no change matters.”

THE CHALLENGE

Presence Collective is a small team with a large vision, dedicated to the mission of liberation for all. Presence Collective programs include meditation classes, workshops, public speaking events, publications, retreats and more all offered to support in-depth awareness practice for the general public. How are we making these teachings accessible to all? What are the necessary steps to make this happen? How can this vision come to fruition? You’ll be an integral part of answering these questions.

THE OPPORTUNITY

As the Executive Assistant & Presence Collective Coordinator, you’ll be actively engaged in expanding the reach and possibility of this mission. You’ll be the logistical and administrative glue that holds the collective together. Presence Collective strives to create a model that allows everyone’s light to shine brightly. In addition to Caverly Morgan’s offerings, Presence Collective hosts sages, visionaries, leaders and teachers from other communities. 

This role includes being a collaborator and co-creator of the equity initiative within the organization at large (Peace in Schools and Presence Collective).  In this role (approximately 10% of the job) you will creatively participate and work in collaboration with a leadership team, without being solely responsible for equity within the organization.

The team member we are seeking provides significant attunement to the organizational vision/mission through their passion for collaboration and service. Presence Collective is looking for someone who wants to be an active participant in the furthering of this work of liberation for all in the world. Along with the salary and benefits listed, this position includes mindfulness and meditation training offered at no cost. We are seeking someone who wishes to be actively involved in the building of our community.

THE TEAM

The full time Presence Collective staff includes Caverly Morgan and the Executive Assistant & Presence Collective Coordinator, who both intersect with Peace in Schools staff often. The Executive Assistant & Presence Collective Coordinator will report directly to the Founder and Guiding Teacher, Caverly Morgan, and will collaborate with her and other leadership team members to create opportunities to promote Presence Collective and share practice with the local and broader community.

THE SKILL SET

The scope of work for the Executive Assistant & Presence Collective Coordinator includes:

  • Admin  (10% - 4 hours/wk)

  • Communications (25% - 10 hours/wk)

  • Assistance to Caverly Morgan (15% - 6 hours/wk)

  • Equity (10% - 4 hours/wk)

  • Program Coordination (40% - 16 hours/wk)

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a minimum of two years administrative experience, preferably with a non-profit organization.

  • Has strong computer skills, with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Google Apps and database programs.

  • Can do quality work with efficiency, consistency and reliability.

  • Is a self-starter, able to work independently.

  • Has an interest in mindfulness/meditation practices.

  • Demonstrates self-awareness in terms of understanding their own culture, identity, biases, prejudices, power, privilege, and stereotypes.

  • Has a combination of life or work experience and/or training in anti-racism, equity work.

  • Enjoys working collaboratively and with the focus of the process being as important as the content of the work.

  • Is available some evenings and weekends

  • Has a strong passion for the vision of liberation for all.
